١حم

1Ha Mim.

٢وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ

2By the clear Book.

٣إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنْذِرِينَ

3Truly, We sent it down on a blessed night. We have always been warners.

٤فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ

4On that night every wise matter is determined.

٥أَمْرًا مِنْ عِنْدِنَا ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ

5A command from Us. We have always been sending messengers.

٦رَحْمَةً مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

6A mercy from your Lord. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

٧رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُوقِنِينَ

7Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything between them, if you would be certain.

٨لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

8There is no god but He. He gives life and causes death — your Lord and the Lord of your earliest forefathers.

٩بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ

9Yet they are in doubt, playing.

١٠فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ

10So watch for the Day when the sky brings a visible smoke.

١١يَغْشَى النَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

11It will engulf the people — this is a painful punishment.

١٢رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ

12“Our Lord, lift this punishment from us — we are believers!”

١٣أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُبِينٌ

13How can remembrance help them now, when a clear messenger already came to them?

١٤ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَجْنُونٌ

14Then they turned away from him and said, “A madman, taught by others!”

١٥إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ

15We will lift the punishment briefly, but you will return.

١٦يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ إِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُونَ

16The Day We strike with the greatest strike — We will take Our vengeance.

١٧وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ

17Before them We tested Pharaoh’s people, and a noble messenger came to them.

١٨أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

18“Hand over to me God’s servants. I am a trustworthy messenger to you.

١٩وَأَنْ لَا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ

19Do not exalt yourselves against God. I come to you with clear authority.

٢٠وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَنْ تَرْجُمُونِ

20I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord from your stoning me.

٢١وَإِنْ لَمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ

21If you do not believe me, then leave me alone.”

٢٢فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ قَوْمٌ مُجْرِمُونَ

22So he called upon his Lord, “These are a criminal people.”

٢٣فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُمْ مُتَّبَعُونَ

23“Travel with My servants by night — you will be pursued.

٢٤وَاتْرُكِ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُغْرَقُونَ

24Leave the sea parted. They are an army to be drowned.”

٢٥كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

25How many gardens and springs they left behind!

٢٦وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ

26And crops and noble dwellings.

٢٧وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ

27And comforts in which they delighted.

٢٨كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ

28So it was. And We made another people inherit it all.

٢٩فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ

29Neither the sky nor the earth wept for them, nor were they given respite.

٣٠وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ

30Truly We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating punishment.

٣١مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ

31From Pharaoh. He was arrogant, among the transgressors.

٣٢وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

32We chose them knowingly over all peoples.

٣٣وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الْآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَاءٌ مُبِينٌ

33We gave them signs in which was a clear trial.

٣٤إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَيَقُولُونَ

34Surely these people say.

٣٥إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنْشَرِينَ

35“There is nothing but our first death, and we will not be resurrected.

٣٦فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

36So bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful.”

٣٧أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ

37Are they better, or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them — they were criminals.

٣٨وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ

38We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in play.

٣٩مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

39We created them only in truth, but most of them do not know.

٤٠إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

40Truly the Day of Separation is the appointed time for all of them.

٤١يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَنْ مَوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ

41A Day when no ally will avail another ally in the least, nor will they be helped.

٤٢إِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

42Except whoever God has mercy on. He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful.

٤٣إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ

43Truly the tree of Zaqqum.

٤٤طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ

44Is the food of the sinful.

٤٥كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ

45Like molten metal, it boils in the bellies.

٤٦كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ

46Like the boiling of scalding water.

٤٧خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ

47“Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Blaze!

٤٨ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ

48Then pour over his head the torment of scalding water!”

٤٩ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ

49“Taste this! You are the mighty, the noble one!

٥٠إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ

50This is what you used to doubt.”

٥١إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ

51Truly the righteous are in a secure station.

٥٢فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

52In gardens and springs.

٥٣يَلْبَسُونَ مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ

53Wearing fine silk and brocade, facing one another.

٥٤كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ

54So it is. And We paired them with wide-eyed maidens.

٥٥يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ

55They call for every kind of fruit there, in security.

٥٦لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ

56They will not taste death there beyond the first death, and He has shielded them from the punishment of the Blaze.

٥٧فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

57A grace from your Lord. That is the supreme triumph.

٥٨فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

58So We have made it easy in your tongue, so that they may take heed.

٥٩فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُمْ مُرْتَقِبُونَ

59So watch. They too are watching.
