Sovereignty · al-Mulk · سورة الملك · 30 ayahs

١تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ الْمُلْكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

1Blessed is the One Who holds all power in His hands, and He can do anything.

٢الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفُورُ

2He created death and life to test you, to see who does the best deeds. And He is the Mighty, the Forgiving.

٣الَّذِي خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا ۖ مَا تَرَىٰ فِي خَلْقِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ مِنْ تَفَاوُتٍ ۖ فَارْجِعِ الْبَصَرَ هَلْ تَرَىٰ مِنْ فُطُورٍ

3He created seven heavens, one above the other. You won't see any mistakes in what the Most Merciful created. Look carefully — do you see any cracks?

٤ثُمَّ ارْجِعِ الْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنْقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ الْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌ

4Then look again, and again. Your eyes will come back tired, finding nothing wrong.

٥وَلَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِمَصَابِيحَ وَجَعَلْنَاهَا رُجُومًا لِلشَّيَاطِينِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابَ السَّعِيرِ

5We decorated the nearest sky with shining lamps, and made them missiles to drive away devils. And We prepared a painful punishment for them.

٦وَلِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِرَبِّهِمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ

6And for those who don't believe in their Lord, there's the punishment of Hellfire. What a terrible place to end up!

٧إِذَا أُلْقُوا فِيهَا سَمِعُوا لَهَا شَهِيقًا وَهِيَ تَفُورُ

7When they're thrown into it, they'll hear it roaring loudly as it boils.

٨تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ الْغَيْظِ ۖ كُلَّمَا أُلْقِيَ فِيهَا فَوْجٌ سَأَلَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَا أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَذِيرٌ

8It almost bursts with anger. Every time a group is thrown in, the guards ask them, "Didn't someone come to warn you?"

٩قَالُوا بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَاءَنَا نَذِيرٌ فَكَذَّبْنَا وَقُلْنَا مَا نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ كَبِيرٍ

9They say, "Yes, someone did come to warn us, but we didn't believe. We said, 'Allah didn't send down anything. You're just completely lost.'"

١٠وَقَالُوا لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِي أَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ

10And they say, "If only we had listened or understood, we wouldn't be among the people of the burning fire."

١١فَاعْتَرَفُوا بِذَنْبِهِمْ فَسُحْقًا لِأَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ

11So they admit their mistakes. Now, away with the people of the burning fire!

١٢إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ بِالْغَيْبِ لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ

12Those who respect their Lord even though they can't see Him will have forgiveness and a big reward.

١٣وَأَسِرُّوا قَوْلَكُمْ أَوِ اجْهَرُوا بِهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

13Whether you speak secretly or out loud, He knows what's hidden inside your hearts.

١٤أَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيفُ الْخَبِيرُ

14Doesn't He know best, since He's the One Who created you? And He is the Gentle, the All-Aware.

١٥هُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ ذَلُولًا فَامْشُوا فِي مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُوا مِنْ رِزْقِهِ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

15He made the earth easy for you to live on, so walk in its paths, and eat from what He provides. And to Him you'll return.

١٦أَأَمِنْتُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ أَنْ يَخْسِفَ بِكُمُ الْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَمُورُ

16Do you feel safe from the One in the sky, that He won't make the earth swallow you up? Then suddenly, it would shake and move!

١٧أَمْ أَمِنْتُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ أَنْ يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ كَيْفَ نَذِيرِ

17Or do you feel safe from the One in the sky, that He won't send a storm of stones on you? Soon you'll know how serious My warning is!

١٨وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ

18People before them didn't believe either. And how terrible was My punishment!

١٩أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الطَّيْرِ فَوْقَهُمْ صَافَّاتٍ وَيَقْبِضْنَ ۚ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا الرَّحْمَٰنُ ۚ إِنَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ بَصِيرٌ

19Haven't they seen the birds flying above them, spreading their wings and folding them? No one holds them up except the Most Kind. He sees everything clearly.

٢٠أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي هُوَ جُنْدٌ لَكُمْ يَنْصُرُكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚ إِنِ الْكَافِرُونَ إِلَّا فِي غُرُورٍ

20Who is there to help you like an army, besides the Most Kind? Those who don't believe are only fooling themselves.

٢١أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي يَرْزُقُكُمْ إِنْ أَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهُ ۚ بَلْ لَجُّوا فِي عُتُوٍّ وَنُفُورٍ

21Who will give you food and everything you need, if He stops giving it to you? But they keep on being stubborn and turning away.

٢٢أَفَمَنْ يَمْشِي مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِ أَهْدَىٰ أَمَّنْ يَمْشِي سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

22Who is better guided: someone who walks with his face down, or someone who walks straight on the right path?

٢٣قُلْ هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْشَأَكُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالْأَبْصَارَ وَالْأَفْئِدَةَ ۖ قَلِيلًا مَا تَشْكُرُونَ

23Say, "He is the One Who created you, and gave you hearing, sight, and hearts. But you hardly ever thank Him."

٢٤قُلْ هُوَ الَّذِي ذَرَأَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ

24Say, "He is the One Who placed you all over the earth, and you'll all be gathered back to Him."

٢٥وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا الْوَعْدُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

25They ask, "When will this promise come true, if you're telling the truth?"

٢٦قُلْ إِنَّمَا الْعِلْمُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ

26Say, "Only Allah knows when it will happen. I am just here to clearly warn you."

٢٧فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةً سِيئَتْ وُجُوهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَقِيلَ هَٰذَا الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تَدَّعُونَ

27When they finally see it coming close, the faces of those who didn't believe will look sad and worried. They'll be told, "This is what you kept asking for!"

٢٨قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِيَ اللَّهُ وَمَنْ مَعِيَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَنْ يُجِيرُ الْكَافِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

28Say, "Think about this: if Allah destroys me and those with me, or if He shows us kindness, who will save those who don't believe from a painful punishment?"

٢٩قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ آمَنَّا بِهِ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ

29Say, "He is the Most Kind. We believe in Him, and we trust Him. Soon you'll know who is clearly lost."

٣٠قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَصْبَحَ مَاؤُكُمْ غَوْرًا فَمَنْ يَأْتِيكُمْ بِمَاءٍ مَعِينٍ

30Say, "Think about this: if your water suddenly disappeared deep underground, who could bring you flowing water?"
