Sovereignty · al-Mulk · سورة الملك · 30 ayahs

١تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ الْمُلْكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

1Blessed is He Who holds all control in His Hand, and He has power over everything.

٢الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفُورُ

2He created death and life to test you — which of you will do the best deeds. And He is the Mighty, the Forgiving.

٣الَّذِي خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا ۖ مَا تَرَىٰ فِي خَلْقِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ مِنْ تَفَاوُتٍ ۖ فَارْجِعِ الْبَصَرَ هَلْ تَرَىٰ مِنْ فُطُورٍ

3He created seven heavens, one above the other. You won't see any flaw in what the Most Merciful created. Look again — do you see any cracks?

٤ثُمَّ ارْجِعِ الْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنْقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ الْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌ

4Then look again, once more. Your eyes will come back tired and worn out.

٥وَلَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِمَصَابِيحَ وَجَعَلْنَاهَا رُجُومًا لِلشَّيَاطِينِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابَ السَّعِيرِ

5We decorated the nearest heaven with shining stars, and made them shooting flames against devils. And We have prepared for them the punishment of blazing fire.

٦وَلِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِرَبِّهِمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ

6For those who reject their Lord, there is the punishment of Hell — and what a terrible place to end up!

٧إِذَا أُلْقُوا فِيهَا سَمِعُوا لَهَا شَهِيقًا وَهِيَ تَفُورُ

7When they're thrown into it, they'll hear it roaring loudly as it boils over.

٨تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ الْغَيْظِ ۖ كُلَّمَا أُلْقِيَ فِيهَا فَوْجٌ سَأَلَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَا أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَذِيرٌ

8Almost bursting with anger. Every time a group is thrown in, its guards will ask them, "Didn't someone warn you?"

٩قَالُوا بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَاءَنَا نَذِيرٌ فَكَذَّبْنَا وَقُلْنَا مَا نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ كَبِيرٍ

9They'll say, "Yes, someone did warn us, but we rejected him, and said, 'Allah hasn't sent down anything. You're completely lost!'"

١٠وَقَالُوا لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِي أَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ

10And they'll say, "If only we had listened or thought carefully, we wouldn't be among those in this blazing fire."

١١فَاعْتَرَفُوا بِذَنْبِهِمْ فَسُحْقًا لِأَصْحَابِ السَّعِيرِ

11So they'll admit their mistakes — so away with the people of the blazing Fire.

١٢إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ بِالْغَيْبِ لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ

12Those who respect and fear their Lord, even when no one sees them — they'll have forgiveness and a great reward.

١٣وَأَسِرُّوا قَوْلَكُمْ أَوِ اجْهَرُوا بِهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

13Whether you speak secretly or openly, He knows exactly what's in your hearts.

١٤أَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيفُ الْخَبِيرُ

14Doesn't He Who created everything know best? He is the Most Gentle, the All-Aware.

١٥هُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ ذَلُولًا فَامْشُوا فِي مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُوا مِنْ رِزْقِهِ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

15He made the earth easy for you to live on, so walk through its paths, and eat from what He provides. And to Him, you'll all return.

١٦أَأَمِنْتُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ أَنْ يَخْسِفَ بِكُمُ الْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَمُورُ

16Do you feel safe from the One in Heaven, that He won't make the earth swallow you up? Then suddenly, it would shake violently!

١٧أَمْ أَمِنْتُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ أَنْ يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ كَيْفَ نَذِيرِ

17Or do you feel safe from the One in Heaven, that He won't send down a storm of stones on you? Soon you'll understand how serious My warning is!

١٨وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ

18Those before them rejected the truth too — just see how terrible My response was!

١٩أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الطَّيْرِ فَوْقَهُمْ صَافَّاتٍ وَيَقْبِضْنَ ۚ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا الرَّحْمَٰنُ ۚ إِنَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ بَصِيرٌ

19Haven't they looked at the birds above them, spreading and folding their wings? Only the Most Merciful holds them up — He sees everything clearly.

٢٠أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي هُوَ جُنْدٌ لَكُمْ يَنْصُرُكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚ إِنِ الْكَافِرُونَ إِلَّا فِي غُرُورٍ

20Who is this army of yours that can help you against the Most Merciful? The disbelievers are only fooling themselves.

٢١أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي يَرْزُقُكُمْ إِنْ أَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهُ ۚ بَلْ لَجُّوا فِي عُتُوٍّ وَنُفُورٍ

21Who will provide for you if He holds back His provision? Yet they stubbornly continue in pride and rejection.

٢٢أَفَمَنْ يَمْشِي مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِ أَهْدَىٰ أَمَّنْ يَمْشِي سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

22Is someone who walks stumbling face-down better guided, or someone who walks straight on a straight path?

٢٣قُلْ هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْشَأَكُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالْأَبْصَارَ وَالْأَفْئِدَةَ ۖ قَلِيلًا مَا تَشْكُرُونَ

23Say, "He is the One Who created you, giving you hearing, sight, and hearts — but you hardly ever give thanks."

٢٤قُلْ هُوَ الَّذِي ذَرَأَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ

24Say, "He is the One Who spread you across the earth, and to Him you'll be gathered back."

٢٥وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا الْوَعْدُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

25Still they ask, "When will this promise come true, if you're telling the truth?"

٢٦قُلْ إِنَّمَا الْعِلْمُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ

26Say, "Only Allah knows that — I am simply here to clearly warn you."

٢٧فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةً سِيئَتْ وُجُوهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَقِيلَ هَٰذَا الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تَدَّعُونَ

27When they finally see it coming close, the faces of the disbelievers will turn miserable, and they'll be told, "This is what you kept asking for!"

٢٨قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِيَ اللَّهُ وَمَنْ مَعِيَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَنْ يُجِيرُ الْكَافِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

28Say, "Think about this: whether Allah destroys me and those with me, or shows us mercy — who will protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?"

٢٩قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ آمَنَّا بِهِ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ

29Say, "He is the Most Merciful — we believe in Him, and We trust Him completely. Soon you'll know clearly who's really lost."

٣٠قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَصْبَحَ مَاؤُكُمْ غَوْرًا فَمَنْ يَأْتِيكُمْ بِمَاءٍ مَعِينٍ

30Say, "Think about this: if your water suddenly disappeared underground, who else could bring you fresh, flowing water?"
