Say, “Shall I take for myself a protector other than Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, and He feeds and is not fed?” Say, “I am instructed to be the first of those who submit.” And do not be among the idolaters.

Say, “Shall I take for myself a protector other than God, Originator of the heavens and the earth, and He feeds and is not fed?” Say, “I am instructed to be the first of those who submit.” And do not be among the idolaters.
Say, "Should I choose someone other than Allah as my protector? He's the One Who created the heavens and the earth. He feeds everyone, but He doesn't need food." Say, "I've been told to be the first to submit to Him, and don't ever be one of those who worship others besides Allah."
Say, "Should I choose anyone other than Allah as my protector? He's the Originator of the heavens and the earth. He feeds, and is not fed." Say, "I've been commanded to be the first to surrender to Him — and never be among those who worship others beside Him."

Say: "Verily, I am commanded to be the first of those who submit themselves to Allâh (as Muslims)." And be not you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) of the Mushrikûn [polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh]. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi)
