وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ
Woe to every backbiter, slanderer.
The Backbiter · al-Humazah · سورة الهمزة · 9 ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ
Who amassed wealth and counted it.
يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ
Thinking his wealth will make him immortal.
كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنْبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ
No! He will be hurled into the Crusher.
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ
And what will make you know what the Crusher is?
نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ
God’s kindled Fire.
الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ
Which leaps up to the hearts.
إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِمْ مُؤْصَدَةٌ
It will be sealed over them.
فِي عَمَدٍ مُمَدَّدَةٍ
In towering columns.
