١يس

1Ya Sin.

٢وَالْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ

2By the Wise Quran.

٣إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

3You are truly among the messengers.

٤عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

4On a straight path.

٥تَنْزِيلَ الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ

5A revelation from the Almighty, the Most Merciful.

٦لِتُنْذِرَ قَوْمًا مَا أُنْذِرَ آبَاؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَافِلُونَ

6To warn a people whose fathers were not warned, so they are heedless.

٧لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰ أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

7Certainly the word has proved true against most of them, so they do not believe.

٨إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلَالًا فَهِيَ إِلَى الْأَذْقَانِ فَهُمْ مُقْمَحُونَ

8We have placed shackles on their necks, reaching up to their chins, so their heads are forced up.

٩وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ

9And We have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and covered them, so they cannot see.

١٠وَسَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنْذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنْذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

10It is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them — they will not believe.

١١إِنَّمَا تُنْذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمَٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِ ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ

11You can only warn one who follows the Reminder and fears the Most Merciful in the unseen. So give him glad tidings of forgiveness and a generous reward.

١٢إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُبِينٍ

12It is We who give life to the dead and record what they have sent ahead and their traces. And everything We have counted in a clear record.

١٣وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَثَلًا أَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَاءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ

13Set before them the example of the people of the town, when the messengers came to it.

١٤إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ مُرْسَلُونَ

14When We sent two to them and they rejected them both, so We reinforced them with a third, and they said, “We are messengers sent to you.”

١٥قَالُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنْزَلَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ

15They said, “You are nothing but humans like us, and the Most Merciful has not sent down anything. You are only lying.”

١٦قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ

16They said, “Our Lord knows that we are truly messengers sent to you.

١٧وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ

17And our duty is only the clear delivery.”

١٨قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ ۖ لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمْ مِنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

18They said, “We see an evil omen in you. If you do not stop, we will surely stone you, and a painful punishment from us will surely touch you.”

١٩قَالُوا طَائِرُكُمْ مَعَكُمْ ۚ أَئِنْ ذُكِّرْتُمْ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ

19They said, “Your evil omen is with you. Is it because you were reminded? Rather, you are a transgressing people.”

٢٠وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ

20And a man came running from the farthest end of the city. He said, “O my people, follow the messengers.

٢١اتَّبِعُوا مَنْ لَا يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ

21Follow those who ask no payment of you, and they are rightly guided.”

٢٢وَمَا لِيَ لَا أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

22“Why would I not worship Him who created me, and to Him you will be returned?

٢٣أَأَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِنْ يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُنْقِذُونِ

23Should I take gods besides Him? If the Most Merciful intends me harm, their intercession will avail me nothing, nor will they rescue me.

٢٤إِنِّي إِذًا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ

24Truly, I would then be in clear error.

٢٥إِنِّي آمَنْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ

25I believe in your Lord, so hear me!”

٢٦قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ۖ قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ

26He was told, “Enter Paradise.” He said, “If only my people knew.

٢٧بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ

27How my Lord has forgiven me and placed me among the honored!”

٢٨وَمَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ جُنْدٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنْزِلِينَ

28We did not send down upon his people after him any army from the sky, nor would We ever send one down.

٢٩إِنْ كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ

29It was only a single blast, and at once they were extinguished.

٣٠يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ

30O what grief over these servants! No messenger ever came to them but they mocked him.

٣١أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ

31Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, that none of them will return to them?

٣٢وَإِنْ كُلٌّ لَمَّا جَمِيعٌ لَدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ

32Yet all of them, gathered together, will be brought before Us.

٣٣وَآيَةٌ لَهُمُ الْأَرْضُ الْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَاهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ

33A sign for them is the dead earth — We gave it life and brought grain from it, and from it they eat.

٣٤وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّاتٍ مِنْ نَخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَ الْعُيُونِ

34We placed in it gardens of palms and grapevines, and We caused springs to gush from it.

٣٥لِيَأْكُلُوا مِنْ ثَمَرِهِ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ

35So they may eat of its fruit — and their hands did not make it. Will they not then be grateful?

٣٦سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنْبِتُ الْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

36Glory be to Him who created all pairs — from what the earth grows, from themselves, and from what they do not know.

٣٧وَآيَةٌ لَهُمُ اللَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُمْ مُظْلِمُونَ

37A sign for them is the night: We strip the daylight from it, and suddenly they are in darkness.

٣٨وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ

38The sun runs to a resting place appointed for it. That is the decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.

٣٩وَالْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَاهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَالْعُرْجُونِ الْقَدِيمِ

39The moon — We determined for it phases, until it returns like an old date-stalk.

٤٠لَا الشَّمْسُ يَنْبَغِي لَهَا أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلَا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ

40The sun may not overtake the moon, nor may the night outpace the day. Each floats in an orbit.

٤١وَآيَةٌ لَهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ

41A sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden ship.

٤٢وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُمْ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ

42And We created for them the like of it, which they ride.

٤٣وَإِنْ نَشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنْقَذُونَ

43And if We will, We drown them — then there is no one to cry to for help, nor are they rescued.

٤٤إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِنَّا وَمَتَاعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍ

44Except by mercy from Us and as provision for a time.

٤٥وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّقُوا مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

45When they are told, “Be mindful of what is before you and what is behind you, so that you may be shown mercy.”

٤٦وَمَا تَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ آيَةٍ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ

46Not a single sign of their Lord’s signs comes to them but they turn away from it.

٤٧وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَنْ لَوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ

47When they are told, “Spend from what God has provided you,” those who disbelieve say to those who believe, “Should we feed someone whom, if God willed, He would have fed? You are clearly astray.”

٤٨وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا الْوَعْدُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

48They say, “When will this promise come, if you are truthful?”

٤٩مَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ

49They await nothing but a single blast that will seize them while they are still disputing.

٥٠فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةً وَلَا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

50They will not be able to leave a will, nor will they return to their families.

٥١وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُمْ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنْسِلُونَ

51The horn will be blown, and at once they will rush from the graves to their Lord.

٥٢قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا مَنْ بَعَثَنَا مِنْ مَرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗ هَٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَصَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُونَ

52They will say, “Woe to us! Who has raised us from our resting place?” “This is what the Most Merciful promised, and the messengers spoke the truth.”

٥٣إِنْ كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌ لَدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ

53It will be but a single blast, and at once they will all be brought before Us.

٥٤فَالْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْئًا وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

54So today no soul will be wronged in the least, and you will only be repaid for what you used to do.

٥٥إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ الْيَوْمَ فِي شُغُلٍ فَاكِهُونَ

55Truly the people of Paradise are busy today in joyful delight.

٥٦هُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمْ فِي ظِلَالٍ عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ مُتَّكِئُونَ

56They and their spouses, reclining on couches in shaded groves.

٥٧لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَلَهُمْ مَا يَدَّعُونَ

57They have fruit therein, and they have whatever they desire.

٥٨سَلَامٌ قَوْلًا مِنْ رَبٍّ رَحِيمٍ

58“Peace” — a word from a Merciful Lord.

٥٩وَامْتَازُوا الْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ

59“Stand apart today, O criminals!”

٦٠أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَا بَنِي آدَمَ أَنْ لَا تَعْبُدُوا الشَّيْطَانَ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ

60“Did I not command you, O Children of Adam, not to worship Satan? He is a clear enemy to you.

٦١وَأَنِ اعْبُدُونِي ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُسْتَقِيمٌ

61And worship Me — this is a straight path.

٦٢وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنْكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا ۖ أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْقِلُونَ

62He has led astray vast multitudes of you. Did you not reason?

٦٣هَٰذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي كُنْتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ

63This is Hell, which you were promised.

٦٤اصْلَوْهَا الْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ

64Burn in it today for what you used to deny.”

٦٥الْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَا أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

65Today We seal their mouths, and their hands speak to Us, and their feet bear witness to what they used to earn.

٦٦وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَاسْتَبَقُوا الصِّرَاطَ فَأَنَّىٰ يُبْصِرُونَ

66If We willed, We could have blotted out their eyes, and they would race toward the path — but how would they see?

٦٧وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَمَسَخْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ

67If We willed, We could have paralyzed them in their place, and they could neither move forward nor turn back.

٦٨وَمَنْ نُعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِي الْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ

68Whoever We grant long life, We reverse him in creation. Do they not reason?

٦٩وَمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ الشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْآنٌ مُبِينٌ

69We did not teach him poetry, nor would it befit him. It is only a reminder and a clear Quran.

٧٠لِيُنْذِرَ مَنْ كَانَ حَيًّا وَيَحِقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ

70To warn whoever is alive, and that the word may be justified against the disbelievers.

٧١أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُمْ مِمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَا أَنْعَامًا فَهُمْ لَهَا مَالِكُونَ

71Do they not see that We created for them, from what Our hands have made, livestock, and they are their owners?

٧٢وَذَلَّلْنَاهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ

72And We tamed them for them — some they ride, and some they eat.

٧٣وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ

73And in them they have benefits and drinks. Will they not be grateful?

٧٤وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لَعَلَّهُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ

74Yet they have taken gods besides God, hoping they might be helped.

٧٥لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُحْضَرُونَ

75They cannot help them, though they stand as soldiers marshaled before them.

٧٦فَلَا يَحْزُنْكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ

76So let their words not grieve you. Truly We know what they conceal and what they declare.

٧٧أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الْإِنْسَانُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُبِينٌ

77Does man not see that We created him from a drop of fluid? Yet there he is — an open adversary!

٧٨وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَهُ ۖ قَالَ مَنْ يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ

78He strikes a likeness for Us and forgets his own creation. He says, “Who will give life to bones when they are decayed?”

٧٩قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا الَّذِي أَنْشَأَهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ

79Say, “He who produced them the first time will give them life. He is All-Knowing of every creation.

٨٠الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الشَّجَرِ الْأَخْضَرِ نَارًا فَإِذَا أَنْتُمْ مِنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ

80He who made for you fire from the green tree, and from it you kindle.

٨١أَوَلَيْسَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ

81Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Capable of creating the likes of them? Yes indeed, and He is the Supreme Creator, the All-Knowing.

٨٢إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئًا أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ

82His command, when He wills a thing, is only to say to it ‘Be,’ and it is.”

٨٣فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

83So glory be to Him in whose hand is the dominion of all things, and to Him you will be returned.
