وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا
By those sent in succession.
The Unleashed · al-Mursalat · سورة المرسلات · 50 ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا
Then raging in tempest.
وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ نَشْرًا
By those spreading wide.
فَالْفَارِقَاتِ فَرْقًا
Then separating decisively.
فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا
Then delivering a reminder.
عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا
As excuse or warning.
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَاقِعٌ
What you are promised will surely come to pass.
فَإِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ
When the stars are blotted out.
وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ فُرِجَتْ
And when the sky is split open.
وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ
And when the mountains are blown to dust.
وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ
And when the messengers are gathered at their appointed time.
لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ
For what Day were they appointed?
لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ
For the Day of Separation.
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ
And what will make you know what the Day of Separation is?
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Did We not destroy the former peoples?
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الْآخِرِينَ
Then We follow them up with the later ones.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ
That is how We deal with the criminals.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
أَلَمْ نَخْلُقْكُمْ مِنْ مَاءٍ مَهِينٍ
Did We not create you from a worthless fluid?
فَجَعَلْنَاهُ فِي قَرَارٍ مَكِينٍ
Then We placed it in a secure resting place.
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ
Until a known term.
فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقَادِرُونَ
So We measured, and how excellent are We at measuring!
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا
Did We not make the earth a gathering place.
أَحْيَاءً وَأَمْوَاتًا
For the living and the dead?
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ شَامِخَاتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمْ مَاءً فُرَاتًا
And We set in it towering mountains and gave you sweet water to drink.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
انْطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ
“Proceed to what you used to deny!
انْطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِي ثَلَاثِ شُعَبٍ
Proceed to a shadow of three branches.
لَا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ
No shade, and no relief from the flame.”
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ
It hurls sparks like a fortress.
كَأَنَّهُ جِمَالَتٌ صُفْرٌ
As if they were tawny camels.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنْطِقُونَ
This is a Day they will not speak.
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ
Nor will they be permitted to make excuses.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَاكُمْ وَالْأَوَّلِينَ
This is the Day of Separation. We have gathered you and the former peoples.
فَإِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ
So if you have any scheme, then scheme against Me!
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَالٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Truly the righteous will be in shades and springs.
وَفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
And fruits of whatever they desire.
كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
“Eat and drink in pleasure for what you used to do.”
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ
This is how We recompense the doers of good.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
كُلُوا وَتَمَتَّعُوا قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُمْ مُجْرِمُونَ
“Eat and enjoy yourselves a little—you are criminals.”
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ
When they are told, “Bow down,” they do not bow.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe that Day to the deniers!
فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ
So in what message after this will they believe?
