“Had we received advice from the ancients.
"If only we had a message from the people before us.
"If only we had a message like the people before us.
“If only we had a reminder from the ancients.
“Had we received advice from the ancients.
“Had we received advice from the ancients.
"If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,
"If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم as a Messenger of Allâh),
“If only we had a scripture like the previous people,
"If only we had had before us a Message from those of old,
If we had but a reminder from the men of old
"If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old,
“If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore
