God — there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining.
He sent down to you the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel.
Before it, as guidance for people, and He sent down the Criterion. Truly, those who disbelieved in God’s signs — for them is a severe punishment. And God is Almighty, Possessor of retribution.
Nothing on earth or in heaven is hidden from God.
It is He who shapes you in the wombs however He wills. There is no god but He, the Almighty, the All-Wise.
It is He who sent down to you the Book. In it are verses that are precise — they are the mother of the Book — and others that are ambiguous. As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow what is ambiguous of it, seeking discord and seeking its interpretation. But none knows its interpretation except God. And those firm in knowledge say, “We believe in it; all of it is from our Lord.” And none take heed except people of understanding.
“Our Lord, do not let our hearts swerve after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. You are the Ever-Giving.”
“Our Lord, You will gather all people on a Day about which there is no doubt.” Surely God does not break His promise.
Those who disbelieved—their wealth and their children will never avail them anything against God. Those are the fuel of the Fire.
Like the way of Pharaoh’s people and those before them: they denied Our signs, so God seized them for their sins. And God is severe in punishment.
Say to those who disbelieved, “You will be defeated and gathered into Hell—what a wretched resting place!”
There was a sign for you in two armies that met: one fighting in God’s cause and another disbelieving. They saw them as twice their number with their own eyes. And God supports with His victory whom He wills. Surely in that is a lesson for those with insight.
The love of desires has been made alluring to people: women, sons, heaped-up hoards of gold and silver, fine horses, livestock, and farmland. That is the enjoyment of this worldly life, but with God is the best return.
Say, “Shall I tell you of something better than that? For the reverent, with their Lord, are gardens beneath which rivers flow, dwelling there forever, and purified spouses, and pleasure from God.” And God is All-Seeing of His servants.
Those who say, “Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
The patient, the truthful, the devout, the charitable, and those who seek forgiveness at dawn.
God has testified that there is no god but He—and so have the angels and those of knowledge—upholding justice. There is no god but He, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
Truly, the religion with God is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them, out of envy among themselves. And whoever denies God’s verses—God is swift in reckoning.
If they argue with you, say, “I have surrendered my face to God, and so have those who follow me.” And say to those who were given the Scripture and the unlettered, “Have you surrendered?” If they surrender, they are guided. But if they turn away, your duty is only to convey. And God is All-Seeing of His servants.
Those who deny God’s verses, kill the prophets without right, and kill those among the people who command justice — give them tidings of a painful punishment.
Those are the ones whose deeds have come to nothing in this world and the Hereafter, and they have no helpers.
Have you not seen those who were given a share of the Scripture? They are called to God’s Book to judge between them, then a group of them turns away in rejection.
That is because they said, “The Fire will never touch us except for a few days.” What they used to fabricate has deluded them in their religion.
So how will it be when We gather them for a Day about which there is no doubt, and every soul is paid in full what it earned, and they are not wronged?
Say, “O God, Master of all sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and strip sovereignty from whom You will. You honor whom You will and humiliate whom You will. In Your hand is all good. Truly, You have power over all things.
You merge the night into the day and merge the day into the night. You bring the living from the dead and bring the dead from the living. And You provide for whom You will without measure.”
Believers must not take disbelievers as allies instead of believers. Whoever does that has nothing to do with God — unless you are guarding yourselves against them as a precaution. God warns you of Himself, and to God is the final return.
Say, “Whether you conceal what is in your hearts or reveal it, God knows it. He knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, and God is Capable of all things.”
The Day every soul finds what it did of good brought before it, and what it did of evil — it will wish there were a vast distance between itself and that. God warns you of Himself, and God is Compassionate to His servants.
Say, “If you love God, then follow me, and God will love you and forgive you your sins. God is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
Say, “Obey God and the Messenger.” But if they turn away, then truly God does not love the disbelievers.
God chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran over all people.
Descendants, one from another. And God is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
When the wife of Imran said, “My Lord, I have vowed to You what is in my womb, dedicated entirely, so accept it from me. You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
When she gave birth to her, she said, “My Lord, I have given birth to a girl” — and God knew best what she had delivered — “and the male is not like the female. I have named her Mary, and I seek Your protection for her and her offspring from Satan the accursed.”
So her Lord accepted her with a gracious acceptance and made her grow a beautiful growth, and placed her in the care of Zechariah. Every time Zechariah entered the sanctuary to see her, he found provision with her. He said, “O Mary, where did this come from?” She said, “It is from God. Truly God provides for whoever He wills without limit.”
It was there that Zechariah called upon his Lord. He said, “My Lord, grant me from You good offspring. You are the Hearer of prayer.”
The angels called out to him while he stood praying in the sanctuary, “God gives you glad tidings of John, confirming a word from God, a leader, chaste, and a prophet among the righteous.”
He said, “My Lord, how can I have a boy when old age has overtaken me and my wife is barren?” He said, “So it is — God does what He wills.”
He said, “My Lord, give me a sign.” He said, “Your sign is that you will not speak to people for three days except by gesture. And remember your Lord often, and glorify Him in the evening and the early morning.”
When the angels said, “O Mary, God has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of all peoples.
O Mary, be devout to your Lord, prostrate, and bow with those who bow.”
That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you. You were not with them when they cast their pens to decide which of them would take charge of Mary, and you were not with them when they disputed.
When the angels said, “O Mary, God gives you glad tidings of a word from Him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, distinguished in this world and the Hereafter, and among those brought near.
He will speak to people in the cradle and in maturity, and he will be among the righteous.”
She said, “My Lord, how can I have a child when no man has touched me?” He said, “So it is. God creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.
He will teach him the Scripture, wisdom, the Torah, and the Gospel.
And a messenger to the Children of Israel: ‘I have come to you with a miracle from your Lord. I fashion for you from clay the shape of a bird, then I breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by God’s leave. I heal the blind and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by God’s leave. I tell you what you eat and what you store in your homes. Surely in that is a sign for you, if you are believers.
And confirming what came before me of the Torah, and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so be mindful of God and obey me.
God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path.’”
When Jesus sensed disbelief from them, he said, “Who are my supporters for God’s cause?” The disciples said, “We are God’s supporters. We believe in God, and bear witness that we are submitters.
Our Lord, we believe in what You have revealed and we follow the messenger, so record us among the witnesses.”
They plotted, and God plotted, and God is the best of plotters.
When God said, “O Jesus, I will take you and raise you to Me and purify you from those who disbelieved, and I will place those who follow you above those who disbelieved until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you in what you used to differ over.
As for those who disbelieved, I will punish them with a severe punishment in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.
But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will pay them their rewards in full.” God does not love the wrongdoers.
That is what We recite to you of the verses and the wise reminder.
Truly, the example of Jesus before God is like the example of Adam — He created him from dust, then said to him, “Be,” and he was.
The truth is from your Lord, so do not be among the doubters.
Whoever argues with you about him after the knowledge that has come to you, say, “Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then let us earnestly pray and invoke God’s curse upon the liars.”
Surely this is the true account. There is no god but God, and God is truly the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
If they turn away, then God is All-Knowing of the corrupters.
Say, “O People of the Book, come to a word common between us and you: that we worship none but God, that we associate nothing with Him, and that none of us takes others as lords besides God.” If they turn away, then say, “Bear witness that we are those who submit.”
O People of the Book, why do you argue about Abraham when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Do you not reason?
Here you are — you argued about what you had some knowledge of, so why do you argue about what you have no knowledge of? God knows, and you do not know.
Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a monotheist, one who submitted, and he was not of those who associate others with God.
Surely the people closest to Abraham are those who followed him, and this Prophet, and those who believe. God is the Ally of the believers.
A faction of the People of the Book wished they could lead you astray, but they lead astray none but themselves, and they do not realize it.
O People of the Book, why do you deny God’s verses while you yourselves bear witness?
O People of the Book, why do you mix truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know?
A faction of the People of the Book said, “Believe in what was sent down upon the believers at the start of the day and deny it at its end, so that they might turn back.
And do not trust anyone except those who follow your religion.” Say, “Truly, guidance is God’s guidance — that anyone should be given the like of what you were given, or that they should argue against you before your Lord.” Say, “Truly, all bounty is in God’s hand. He gives it to whom He wills.” God is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.
He singles out with His mercy whom He wills. God is the Possessor of immense bounty.
Among the People of the Book is one who, if you entrust him with a heap of gold, will return it to you. And among them is one who, if you entrust him with a single coin, will not return it to you unless you keep standing over him. That is because they said, “We have no obligation toward the unlettered.” They speak lies about God, and they know it.
But yes — whoever fulfills his covenant and is mindful, then God loves the mindful.
Those who sell God’s covenant and their oaths for a small price — they will have no share in the Hereafter. God will not speak to them, nor look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor purify them, and for them is a painful punishment.
Among them is a group who twist their tongues with the Book so you would think it is from the Book, when it is not from the Book. They say, “It is from God,” when it is not from God. They speak lies about God, and they know it.
It is not for any human being that God should give him the Book, authority, and prophethood, and then he would say to people, “Be servants to me instead of God.” Rather, “Be people of the Lord, since you have been teaching the Book and since you have been studying it.”
Nor would he command you to take the angels and the prophets as lords. Would he command you to disbelief after you have submitted?
When God took the covenant of the prophets: “Whatever I have given you of a Book and wisdom, then a messenger comes to you confirming what is with you — you must believe in him and you must support him.” He said, “Do you affirm this and accept My binding pledge on that?” They said, “We affirm it.” He said, “Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses.”
So whoever turns away after that — those are the defiantly disobedient.
Do they seek other than God’s religion, when to Him has submitted everyone in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they will be returned?
Say, “We believe in God, in what was sent down to us, in what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the tribes, and in what Moses, Jesus, and the prophets were given from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit.”
Whoever seeks a religion other than submission to God, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.
How will God guide a people who disbelieved after their faith, who witnessed that the Messenger is true, and to whom clear proofs came? God does not guide the wrongdoing people.
Those — their recompense is that upon them falls the curse of God, the angels, and all of mankind.
They will remain in it forever. The punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be given respite.
Except those who repent after that and make amends — truly God is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Those who disbelieved after their faith and then grew in disbelief — their repentance will never be accepted. Those are the ones astray.
Those who disbelieved and died as disbelievers — never would the earth’s fill of gold be accepted from any one of them, even if he offered it as ransom. Those will have a painful punishment, and they will have no helpers.
You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love. And whatever you spend, God is fully aware of it.
All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel forbade himself before the Torah was sent down. Say, “Then bring the Torah and recite it, if you are truthful.”
So whoever fabricates lies about God after that — those are the wrongdoers.
Say, “God has spoken the truth. So follow the creed of Abraham, a monotheist, and he was not of those who associate others with God.”
Truly, the first house established for mankind is the one at Bakkah—blessed and a guidance for all peoples.
In it are clear signs: the station of Abraham. Whoever enters it is safe. And pilgrimage to the House is a duty owed to God by all people who can find a way to it. And whoever disbelieves—God is beyond need of all peoples.
Say, “O People of the Book, why do you reject God’s verses when God is witness to all you do?”
Say, “O People of the Book, why do you turn those who believe away from God’s path, seeking to make it crooked, while you yourselves are witnesses? God is not unaware of what you do.”
O you who believe, if you obey a faction of those given the Book, they will turn you back into disbelievers after your faith.
How can you disbelieve when God’s verses are recited to you and His Messenger is among you? Whoever holds fast to God has been guided to a straight path.
O you who believe, be mindful of God as He truly deserves, and do not die except as those who have submitted.
Hold fast to God’s rope, all together, and do not be divided. Remember God’s blessing upon you: you were enemies, and He united your hearts, so by His blessing you became brothers. You were on the edge of a pit of Fire, and He rescued you from it. Thus God makes His verses clear to you, so that you may be guided.
Let there be among you a community that calls to good, commands what is right, and forbids what is wrong. Those are the successful.
Do not be like those who divided and disagreed after clear proofs had come to them. Those will have a terrible punishment.
On the Day when faces turn white and faces turn black. As for those whose faces turn black: “Did you disbelieve after your faith? Then taste the punishment for your disbelief.”
But as for those whose faces turn white—they are in God’s mercy, dwelling there forever.
These are God’s verses; We recite them to you in truth. God does not desire any injustice for all peoples.
To God belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And to God all matters are returned.
You are the best nation ever brought out for humanity: you enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and believe in God. Had the People of the Book believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.
They will never harm you except with minor annoyance. If they fight you, they will turn their backs to you, and then they will not be helped.
Humiliation is stamped upon them wherever they are found, except through a rope from God and a rope from people. They drew upon themselves wrath from God, and wretchedness is stamped upon them. That is because they used to reject God’s signs and kill the prophets without right. That is because they disobeyed and used to transgress.
They are not all alike. Among the People of the Book is an upright community who recite God’s verses through the hours of the night, prostrating.
They believe in God and the Last Day, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and race toward good deeds. Those are among the righteous.
Whatever good they do will never be denied them. God is All-Knowing of the God-conscious.
Truly, those who disbelieve — their wealth and their children will avail them nothing against God. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will remain in it forever.
The example of what they spend in this worldly life is like a wind bearing frost that struck the harvest of a people who wronged themselves and destroyed it. God did not wrong them, but they wrong themselves.
O you who believe, do not take as intimates those outside your own. They spare no effort to ruin you and wish for your suffering. Hatred has already shown from their mouths, and what their chests conceal is far greater. We have made the signs clear to you, if you would reason.
Here you are, loving them while they do not love you, and you believe in the Scripture — all of it. When they meet you, they say, “We believe,” but when they are alone, they bite their fingertips at you in rage. Say, “Die in your rage!” Truly, God is All-Knowing of what is within the chests.
If something good touches you, it grieves them, and if misfortune strikes you, they rejoice at it. But if you are patient and God-conscious, their scheming will not harm you at all. Truly, God encompasses all that they do.
Remember when you set out from your family at dawn, positioning the believers at their battle stations. And God is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
When two groups among you were about to lose heart, though God was their protector. And in God let the believers place their trust.
God had already granted you victory at Badr when you were few and weak. So be mindful of God, that you may be grateful.
When you said to the believers, “Is it not enough for you that your Lord reinforces you with three thousand angels sent down?
Yes, if you are patient and mindful, and they come at you in this rush of theirs, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels, distinctly marked.”
God made this only as good news for you and to put your hearts at ease. Victory comes only from God, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
To cut off a flank of those who disbelieved, or crush them so they turn back defeated.
It is no concern of yours whether He turns to them in mercy or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers.
To God belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And God is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
O you who believe, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied. Be mindful of God, so that you may prosper.
Fear the Fire that has been prepared for the disbelievers.
Obey God and the Messenger, so that you may be shown mercy.
Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the reverent.
Those who spend in ease and hardship, who restrain their anger and pardon people. God loves those who do good.
And those who, when they commit an indecency or wrong themselves, remember God and seek forgiveness for their sins—and who forgives sins but God?—and do not persist in what they did while they know.
Those—their recompense is forgiveness from their Lord and Gardens beneath which rivers flow, dwelling therein forever. How excellent is the reward of those who act.
Ways of life have passed before you, so travel through the earth and see how the deniers met their end.
This is a declaration for humanity, and a guidance and counsel for the mindful.
Do not weaken and do not grieve—you are the superior ones, if you are believers.
If a wound has touched you, a similar wound has touched the other people. These are days We alternate among people, so that God may distinguish those who believe and take martyrs from among you. God does not love the wrongdoers.
And so that God may purify those who believe and destroy the disbelievers.
Or did you think you would enter the Garden while God has not yet known those among you who struggled, and known the steadfast?
You used to wish for death before you met it—now you have seen it while you were looking on.
Muhammad is nothing but a messenger; messengers have passed before him. If he dies or is killed, will you turn back on your heels? Whoever turns back on his heels will never harm God in the least. And God will recompense the grateful.
No soul can die except by God’s permission, at a decreed term. Whoever desires the reward of this world, We will give him of it, and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We will give him of it. And We will recompense the grateful.
How many a prophet fought alongside whom were many devout men, and they never faltered for what struck them in God’s cause, nor did they weaken, nor did they submit. And God loves the steadfast.
Their only words were: “Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our excess in our affairs, and plant our feet firmly, and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.”
So God gave them the reward of this world and the finest reward of the Hereafter. And God loves those who do good.
O you who believe, if you obey those who disbelieve, they will turn you back on your heels, and you will become losers.
Rather, God is your protector, and He is the best of helpers.
We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve because they associated with God what He sent down no authority for. Their refuge is the Fire, and wretched is the abode of the wrongdoers.
God certainly fulfilled His promise to you when you were cutting them down by His permission—until you lost courage, disputed over the command, and disobeyed after He had shown you what you love. Among you were those who desired this world, and among you were those who desired the Hereafter. Then He turned you away from them to test you. And He has pardoned you. God is full of grace toward the believers.
When you were fleeing uphill, not turning back for anyone, while the Messenger was calling you from behind, He repaid you with grief upon grief so that you would not grieve over what escaped you or what struck you. And God is All-Aware of what you do.
Then after the grief, He sent down upon you security—a drowsiness overtaking a group of you—while another group cared only about themselves, harboring thoughts about God other than the truth, thoughts of ignorance. They say, “Do we have any say in the matter?” Say, “The matter belongs entirely to God.” They conceal within themselves what they do not reveal to you. They say, “If we had any say in the matter, we would not have been killed here.” Say, “Even if you had been in your homes, those for whom killing was decreed would have gone out to their deathbeds.” And so that God might test what is in your chests and purify what is in your hearts. God is All-Knowing of what lies within the chests.
Those of you who turned back on the day the two armies met—it was Satan who made them slip through something they had earned. But God has pardoned them. Truly, God is All-Forgiving, All-Forbearing.
O you who believe, do not be like those who disbelieved and said of their brothers when they traveled the land or went on raids, “Had they stayed with us, they would not have died or been killed”—so that God would make that a source of anguish in their hearts. God gives life and causes death. And God is All-Seeing of what you do.
If you are killed in God’s cause or die, forgiveness from God and mercy are far better than all they amass.
And if you die or are killed, it is to God you will be gathered.
It was by mercy from God that you were gentle with them. Had you been harsh and hard-hearted, they would have scattered from around you. So pardon them, seek forgiveness for them, and consult them in the matter. Then, when you have resolved, put your trust in God. Truly, God loves those who put their trust in Him.
If God helps you, none can overcome you. But if He forsakes you, who then can help you after Him? So let the believers put their trust in God.
It is not for a prophet to defraud. Whoever defrauds will bring what he defrauded on the Day of Resurrection. Then every soul will be paid in full what it earned, and they will not be wronged.
Is one who pursues God’s pleasure like one who has brought upon himself wrath from God, whose refuge is Hell? What a wretched destination!
They are of varying degrees before God. And God is All-Seeing of what they do.
Certainly God bestowed a favor upon the believers when He raised among them a messenger from themselves, reciting to them His verses, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom—though before that they were clearly astray.
When a disaster struck you after you had inflicted twice as much, you said, “How is this?” Say, “It is from yourselves.” Truly, God is Capable of all things.
What struck you on the day the two armies met was by God’s permission, and so that He might distinguish the believers.
And so that He might distinguish the hypocrites. They were told, “Come, fight in God’s cause, or at least defend.” They said, “If we knew there would be fighting, we would have followed you.” They were closer to disbelief that day than to faith. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts. And God knows best what they conceal.
Those who sat back and said of their brothers, “Had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed.” Say, “Then avert death from yourselves, if you are truthful.”
Do not think those killed in God’s cause are dead. They are alive with their Lord, provided for.
Rejoicing in what God has given them of His grace, and delighted for those who have not yet joined them from behind — that no fear will be upon them, nor will they grieve.
They rejoice in a blessing from God and grace, and that God does not waste the reward of the believers.
Those who answered God and the Messenger after wounds had struck them — for those among them who did good and were mindful, a great reward.
Those whom people told, “The people have gathered against you, so fear them,” but it only increased them in faith, and they said, “God is enough for us, and what an excellent Guardian.”
So they returned with a blessing from God and grace, no harm having touched them, and they pursued God’s pleasure. God is the possessor of great grace.
That is only Satan frightening his allies. So do not fear them, but fear Me, if you are believers.
Do not let those who rush into disbelief grieve you. They will never harm God in the least. God intends to give them no share in the Hereafter, and for them is a great punishment.
Surely those who purchased disbelief at the price of faith will never harm God in the least, and for them is a painful punishment.
Let not those who disbelieve think that Our granting them respite is good for them. We only grant them respite so they increase in sin, and for them is a humiliating punishment.
God would never leave the believers in the state you are in until He separates the wicked from the good. And God would never reveal to you the unseen, but God chooses from His messengers whom He wills. So believe in God and His messengers. And if you believe and are mindful, for you is a great reward.
Let not those who hoard what God has given them of His grace think it is good for them. Rather, it is bad for them. They will be collared with what they hoarded on the Day of Resurrection. To God belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth, and God is All-Aware of what you do.
God has heard the words of those who said, “God is poor and we are rich.” We will record what they said and their killing of the prophets without right, and We will say, “Taste the punishment of the Blaze.”
That is for what your hands have sent ahead, and God is never unjust to His servants.
Those who said, “God has made a covenant with us not to believe in any messenger until he brings us an offering consumed by fire.” Say, “Messengers before me came to you with clear proofs and with what you demanded — so why did you kill them, if you are truthful?”
If they deny you, messengers before you were denied too — they came with clear proofs, the scriptures, and the illuminating Book.
Every soul will taste death. You will only be paid your full rewards on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is pulled away from the Fire and admitted into Paradise has truly triumphed. The life of this world is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion.
You will surely be tested in your wealth and yourselves, and you will surely hear much abuse from those who were given the Book before you and from those who associate partners with God. But if you endure and remain God-conscious, that is truly a matter of resolve.
When God took the covenant of those who were given the Book — “You must make it clear to people and not conceal it” — they cast it behind their backs and sold it for a petty price. Wretched is what they purchase!
Do not think that those who rejoice in what they have done and love to be praised for what they did not do — do not think they are safe from the punishment. For them is a painful punishment.
To God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. God is Capable of all things.
Truly in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day are signs for people of understanding.
Those who remember God standing, sitting, and on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: “Our Lord, You did not create this in vain. Glory be to You. Protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
Our Lord, whoever You admit into the Fire, You have truly disgraced him, and the wrongdoers have no helpers.
Our Lord, we heard a caller calling to faith: ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we believed. Our Lord, forgive us our sins, erase our misdeeds, and take our souls with the righteous.
Our Lord, grant us what You promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. You never break Your promise.”
So their Lord answered them, “I do not let the work of any worker among you go to waste, male or female — you are of one another. Those who emigrated and were driven from their homes and were harmed in My cause and fought and were killed, I will surely erase their misdeeds and I will surely admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow — a reward from God.” And with God is the finest reward.
Do not be deceived by the movement of the disbelievers throughout the land.
A brief enjoyment, then their refuge is Hell — and what a wretched resting place!
But those who were mindful of their Lord will have gardens beneath which rivers flow, dwelling there forever — a welcome from God. And what is with God is better for the righteous.
Among the People of the Book are those who believe in God and what was sent down to you and what was sent down to them, humbling themselves before God, never trading God’s verses for a small price. Those will have their reward with their Lord. Truly God is swift in reckoning.
O you who believe, be patient, outdo others in patience, stand firm, and be mindful of God, so that you may succeed.
