إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ
When the sun is wrapped up.
The Rolling · at-Takwir · سورة التكوير · 29 ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انْكَدَرَتْ
When the stars fall down.
وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ
When the mountains are set moving.
وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ
When the pregnant camels are abandoned.
وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ
When the wild beasts are gathered.
وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ
When the seas are set ablaze.
وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ
When the souls are paired.
وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ
When the buried infant girl is asked.
بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ
For what sin she was killed.
وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ
When the scrolls are spread open.
وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ
When the sky is stripped away.
وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ
When the Hellfire is set ablaze.
وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ
When the Garden is brought near.
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا أَحْضَرَتْ
Every soul will know what it has brought.
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ
I swear by the retreating stars.
الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ
The ones that move and disappear.
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ
By the night as it departs.
وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ
By the dawn as it breathes.
إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
Truly it is the word of a noble messenger.
ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ
Possessed of strength, secure in rank with the Lord of the Throne.
مُطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ
Obeyed there, and trustworthy.
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُونٍ
Your companion is not mad.
وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ
He certainly saw him on the clear horizon.
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ
He is not withholding of the unseen.
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَجِيمٍ
It is not the word of an accursed devil.
فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ
So where are you going?
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ
It is nothing but a reminder to all the worlds.
لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقِيمَ
For whoever among you wills to walk straight.
وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
But you cannot will unless God wills—Lord of all the worlds.
