وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ
By the sky with its great constellations.
The Constellations · al-Buruj · سورة البروج · 22 ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ
By the promised Day.
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
By a witness and what is witnessed.
قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الْأُخْدُودِ
Destroyed were the makers of the trench.
النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ
The fire full of fuel.
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
When they sat beside it.
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
And they were witnesses to what they did to the believers.
وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ
They resented them only because they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy.
الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And God is Witness over all things.
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ
Truly, those who persecuted the believing men and believing women, then never repented—for them is the punishment of Hell, and for them is the punishment of burning.
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ
Surely, those who believed and did righteous deeds—for them are gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great triumph.
إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
Certainly, your Lord’s grip is severe.
إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
It is He who originates and restores.
وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ
And He is the All-Forgiving, the All-Loving.
ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ
Lord of the Throne, the All-Glorious.
فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ
Doer of whatever He wills.
هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ
Has the story of the legions reached you?
فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ
Pharaoh and Thamud?
بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي تَكْذِيبٍ
Yet those who disbelieve persist in denial.
وَاللَّهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ
And God encompasses them from behind.
بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ
Rather, it is a glorious Quran.
فِي لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ
In a preserved tablet.
