هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
Has the news of the Overwhelming reached you?
The Overwhelming · al-Ghashiyah · سورة الغاشية · 26 ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ
Faces that Day will be humbled.
عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ
Laboring, exhausted.
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
Burning in a scorching Fire.
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ
Given to drink from a boiling spring.
لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ
They will have no food except thorny shrubs.
لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ
That neither nourishes nor satisfies hunger.
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ
Faces that Day will be radiant.
لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
Pleased with their striving.
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
In a lofty Garden.
لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً
Where they hear no idle talk.
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
In it is a flowing spring.
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ
In it are raised couches.
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ
And goblets set ready.
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
And cushions lined in rows.
وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
And carpets spread about.
أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
Do they not look at the camels — how they were created?
وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
And at the sky — how it was raised?
وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
And at the mountains — how they were set firm?
وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
And at the earth — how it was spread out?
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
So remind — you are only a reminder.
لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
You have no authority over them.
إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
But whoever turns away and disbelieves.
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ
God will punish him with the greatest punishment.
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
Truly, to Us is their return.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ
Then truly, upon Us is their reckoning.
