وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ
By the night as it covers.
The Night · al-Layl · سورة الليل · 21 ayahs
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ
By the day as it shines.
وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ
By Him who created the male and the female.
إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ
Surely your strivings are diverse.
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ
As for he who gave and was mindful.
وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ
And affirmed the ultimate good.
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
We will ease him toward ease.
وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ
As for he who was stingy and thought himself self-sufficient.
وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ
And denied the ultimate good.
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ
We will ease him toward hardship.
وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ
His wealth will not avail him when he plummets.
إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ
Truly, upon Us is the guidance.
وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ
To Us belongs the Hereafter and the first life.
فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ
So I have warned you of a Fire that blazes.
لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى
None will burn in it but the most wretched.
الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
Who denied and turned away.
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى
The most righteous will be kept far from it.
الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ
Who gives his wealth to purify himself.
وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ
Not owing anyone a favor to be repaid.
إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ
But seeking only the face of his Lord, the Most High.
وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ
He will surely be satisfied.
