And show no favor seeking gain.

Don't help others just because you want something back.

Don't give favors expecting more in return.

And do not give, expecting more in return.

And do not confer favor to acquire more1790

And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of obedience to Allâh as a favour to Him).

and do not do a favor for a greater return1,

Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)!

And show not favour, seeking wordly gain!

do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return;

and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return,

Do not grant a favour seeking a greater gain,
